Polyimide-aramid composite fabric

Aramid-polyimide blended composite fabric is a composite fabric material formed by blending and reinforcing aramid fibers (including para/meta-aramid) with polyimide (PI) fibers. It combines the advantages of two high-performance fibers and exhibits significantly improved performance under extreme conditions.

 

1. High-temperature resistance:

It can be used continuously at temperatures above 250°C and can withstand short-term exposure to 300-400°C or even higher temperatures, while maintaining good mechanical properties. It has a high limiting oxygen index and excellent flame retardancy.

The blended fabric inherits the high-temperature resistance of polyimide, while the addition of aramid enhances the strength and dimensional stability at high temperatures, preventing the fabric from melting, dripping, or shrinking drastically at high temperatures, providing more reliable protection.

2. Excellent flame retardant and fire-resistant properties:

The blended fabric has excellent flame retardancy, low smoke density, and low toxicity. When exposed to fire, it forms a dense carbon layer that isolates oxygen and heat, providing a high level of fire protection.

3. High strength and excellent mechanical properties:

Blending significantly improves the overall strength and toughness of the fabric (especially tear strength), compensating for the relatively low strength of pure polyimide fabrics, while maintaining good flexibility and wear resistance. The fabric has a high strength-to-weight ratio.

4. Excellent chemical stability:

The fabric exhibits excellent chemical corrosion resistance.

5. Good dimensional stability:

The blended fabric maintains good dimensional stability at high temperatures and is not easily deformed or shrunk.

6. Low thermal conductivity:

The blended fabric provides good thermal insulation and reduces heat transfer.

 

Applications of Polyimide-Aramid Composite Fabric

1. High-temperature industrial filtration

Used in cement kilns (inlet and outlet), garbage incineration, coal-fired boilers, steel smelting, and chemical production where high-temperature and highly corrosive dust is generated.

As a filter media for bag dust collectors or filter cartridges, its temperature resistance, flame retardancy, chemical resistance, strength, and durability are far superior to ordinary filter media, greatly extending the filter bag life and improving filtration efficiency.

2. Firefighting and high-temperature protective clothing

Firefighting suits and combat suits made from aramid-polyimide blended composite fabric have fire-retardant and heat-insulating effects, effectively blocking high temperatures and flames to protect the wearer. They are durable, strong, and suitable for high-intensity work environments such as firefighting and combat.

3. Law enforcement protective equipment

Inner lining or buffer layer for high-performance bulletproof vests and helmets (utilizing its high strength and impact resistance).

Bomb disposal suits, tactical suits (high-temperature resistance, flame retardancy, and anti-fragmentation).

Protective clothing for special environments (such as combat or missions involving high temperatures and fire hazards).

4. Friction material reinforcing fabric

Used as a reinforcing material for high-performance brake pads and clutch plates, providing strength and stability at high temperatures.

5. Aerospace

Fire-resistant layer for aircraft interior materials (seat covers, bulkhead insulation). Engine compartment heat insulation and fire barriers. High-temperature insulation and protective materials for spacecraft.

6. Special industrial fabrics

High-temperature conveyor belts (such as sintered ore and glass). Welding blankets, fire blankets, and heat shields. External covering materials for the thermal insulation of high-temperature pipes and equipment.
