Aramid 1313 Nonwoven Fabric + Cotton Composite Knitted Fabric It is a multifunctional composite fabric made by tightly combining aramid 1313 short fiber nonwoven fabric with cotton fiber knitted fabric through processes such as needle punching, thermal bonding, or adhesive bonding.
1. Characteristics
① Flame Retardancy and Heat Resistance
When exposed to open flames or high temperatures, aramid 1313 fibers do not burn or melt and drip. Instead, they carbonize and rapidly expand and thicken, forming a dense carbonized layer. This carbonized layer acts as a crucial thermal insulation barrier, effectively blocking heat transfer to the body and providing valuable escape or rescue time for the wearer.
This material can maintain its physical properties for extended periods in environments below 200°C, with a decomposition temperature exceeding 400°C. Its Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) is greater than 28, meaning it cannot sustain combustion in atmospheres with oxygen concentrations below 28%, which is much higher than the approximately 21% oxygen concentration in normal air, making it difficult to burn in air.
② Comfort and Skin-Friendliness
Cotton has excellent moisture absorption, quickly absorbing sweat from the skin surface and evaporating it to keep the skin dry, avoiding the stuffy feeling caused by sweat accumulation, which is crucial for high-intensity workers.
Cotton knitted fabric itself has a soft and fluffy hand feel. When worn as an inner layer close to the skin, it greatly improves the stiff and itchy feel of pure protective clothing, enhancing wearing comfort and freedom of movement. Aramid 1313 fibers are also treated to revert to their original fiber state, making them softer and reducing itchiness, further synergizing with the cotton component to enhance comfort.
2. Applications
① Special High-Temperature Protective Clothing
Firefighting and Rescue Field In modern firefighting clothing systems, this composite material is often used as an "insulation layer" or "comfort layer." As an insulation layer, it is located between the outer flame-retardant fabric and the inner layer. When exposed to high-temperature flames, the aramid 1313 nonwoven fabric layer rapidly carbonizes and expands, forming an effective thermal barrier that greatly delays heat transfer to the body, buying firefighters valuable rescue time. Meanwhile, the internal cotton knitted fabric layer efficiently absorbs the large amounts of sweat produced by firefighters, keeping the skin dry and preventing rapid physical decline caused by heat stress, significantly improving combat endurance and survival chances.
Industrial High-Temperature Work Field In industries such as petrochemical, natural gas, metallurgy casting, welding processing, and glass manufacturing, workers face continuous thermal radiation, unexpected flame attacks, and high-temperature molten metal droplets or splashes.
It is used to make welder's clothing, furnace front worker clothing, maintenance worker clothing, etc. The material's excellent tear resistance and abrasion resistance withstand rough friction and snagging on construction sites; its heat resistance prevents high-temperature molten droplets from easily penetrating the clothing; and its comfort ensures workers' compliance with wearing protective gear during long, intense labor, avoiding the risk of removing protective equipment due to unbearable heat, thereby fundamentally improving safety levels.
In the power industry, its electrical insulation plays a key role in making arc flash protective clothing. At the moment of an arc flash explosion, the material effectively blocks the massive thermal shock, preventing clothing from burning and providing critical protection for employees.
② Special and Emergency Response Equipment
Armored vehicle crew uniforms, air force flight suits, and special forces combat uniforms In modern battlefields and counter-terrorism environments, threats from explosions, incendiary weapons, flames, and high temperatures are ubiquitous. Combat uniforms made from this composite material provide basic flame retardant protection, while their lightweight and comfort ensure soldiers and pilots maintain mobility and can wear them for extended periods without the equipment's bulkiness affecting tactical movements.
Police bomb disposal suits and rescue team uniforms Police officers and rescue personnel handling explosives and fire rescue tasks also require the highest level of flame retardant and thermal insulation protection. This material serves as a trusted life barrier during their high-risk missions.
③ High-End Industrial and Technical Filtration
Used for high-temperature flue gas dust bags in cement plants, steel mills, carbon black plants, and thermal power plants. In these processes, the emitted flue gas is high in temperature and contains corrosive chemical components. The aramid 1313 nonwoven fabric layer can withstand high temperatures and resist chemical corrosion, ensuring the filter bags operate stably over the long term in harsh environments, capturing fine dust and meeting environmental emission standards. The introduction of the cotton component can adjust filtration precision and material flexibility.
④ Other High-Tech Fields
Electrical Insulation Materials Utilizing its excellent electrical insulation, heat resistance, and high strength, it can be used to manufacture insulating paper, insulating felt, laminated boards, etc., in equipment such as motors, transformers, and circuit boards, ensuring the safe operation of electrical equipment under extreme conditions like high-temperature overloads.
Composite Reinforcements As prepregs or reinforcement frameworks, combined with other matrix materials, used in applications requiring lightweight, high strength, and certain heat resistance, such as interior panels and honeycomb structural materials for aerospace vehicles, achieving weight reduction while meeting strict aviation flame retardant standards.
