Aramid 1313 knitted fabric is a textile made by knitting Aramid 1313 (meta-aramid) fibers. Its key feature lies in the seamless integration of Aramid 1313’s inherent superior protective performance with the knitted structure’s unique characteristics of high elasticity, excellent stretchability, and close-fitting comfort.
1. Inherently flame-retardant and high-temperature resistant properties
The limiting oxygen index (LOI) of meta-aramid is greater than 28, and it can be used continuously at temperatures up to 220°C. When exposed to fire, it chars rather than melts or drips, exhibits excellent electrical insulation properties, and demonstrates outstanding resistance to chemical corrosion by most acids, bases, and solvents. These characteristics are inherent to its molecular structure and are not the result of post-treatment processes; therefore, they do not degrade over time due to washing or friction.
2. Mechanical Properties
Unlike the crispness of woven fabrics or the fluffiness of nonwoven fabrics, knitted structures are formed by loops of yarn interlocking with one another, giving them exceptional elasticity, stretchability, and superb softness and close fit. Under external force, these fabrics can easily stretch—especially in the lateral direction—and then spring back once the force is removed, perfectly adapting to the body’s complex movements. At the same time, this fluffy loop structure traps a large amount of air, providing excellent thermal insulation and warmth. Moreover, the fabric feels lightweight and boasts superior breathability, significantly enhancing comfort during prolonged wear.
3. Durability
High elasticity and high elongation endow meta-aramid knitted fabrics with exceptional impact resistance, tear resistance, and fatigue resistance. They are highly durable and resistant to damage under repeated stretching and bending in dynamic applications, demonstrating outstanding longevity.
Application fields of aramid 1313 knitted fabric:
1. High-end specialized protective clothing
It is used as the inner layer or in stretchable joint areas for manufacturing fire-fighting suits, emergency rescue suits, racing suits, and specialized military and police combat uniforms. As an inner layer—commonly referred to as the “comfort layer”—it can be worn directly against the skin, leveraging its softness, moisture-wicking properties, and thermal insulation to enhance comfort. When applied to areas such as the elbows, knees, shoulders, and back, it provides unrestricted freedom of movement, ensuring that protective garments offer comprehensive coverage and protection even during intense physical activity.
2. Industrial arc-flash and high-temperature protective clothing
In fields such as power generation, petrochemicals, and welding, these fabrics are used to manufacture arc-flash protective clothing, welding protective suits, or high-temperature workwear that require frequent movement and extensive physical activity. Their elastic properties enable workers to move more freely during operations while providing continuous electrical insulation and flame-retardant protection.
3. High-performance sports and outdoor gear
Fire-resistant racing gloves, socks, balaclavas, and other gear used in top-level motorsports are also employed in the manufacture of certain outdoor adventure apparel or equipment components that have special requirements for flame retardancy and thermal insulation.
4. Lining for Special Industrial and Aerospace Apparel
Fire-resistant racing gloves, socks, balaclavas, and other gear used in top-level motorsports are also employed in the manufacture of certain outdoor adventure apparel or equipment components that have special requirements for flame retardancy and thermal insulation.
