Meta-aramid sewing thread 403 is a high-performance sewing thread made from aramid 1313 fiber (poly-m-phenylene isophthalamide) through twisting and plying processes. Its model number "403" typically indicates 40-count yarn, 3-ply twisted, with high-strength, temperature resistance, flame retardancy, and corrosion resistance characteristics. It is specially designed for sewing needs in high-temperature and high-risk environments.
1. High Temperature Resistance and Flame Retardancy
Temperature Resistance: Long-term temperature resistance of 220℃, short-term tolerance of 300℃ high temperature, limiting oxygen index (LOI) >28%, non-melting and non-shrinking when encountering fire.
Flame Retardant Properties: Only carbonization occurs during combustion without dripping, avoiding secondary burns, suitable for fire suits and high-temperature filter bag sewing.
2. Mechanical Properties
Linear Density: 40 count/3 ply (approximately 120D), tensile strength ≥15N (single thread), elongation at break <5%, not easy to break during sewing.
Abrasion Resistance: Strength retention rate >85% after 500 friction cycles, suitable for high-wear parts (such as protective clothing joints).
3. Chemical and Environmental Stability
Resistant to weak acids, weak alkalis, and organic solvents (such as ethanol, acetone), excellent hydrolysis resistance, and tolerance to humid and hot environments (such as chemical plants, marine operations).
UV resistance is weak; long-term outdoor use requires UV-resistant coating or dark-colored fabrics.
4. Sewing Adaptability
Adaptable to industrial flat sewing machines and lock-stitch machines. Recommended needle size: #14-18 (high-temperature resistant needles), sewing speed ≤5000 rpm.
Can be dyed in golden yellow, black, etc. (the original yarn is light yellow), color fastness ≥ grade 4.
